Teaching
My classes explore the world’s most difficult challenges. We examine why some countries are rich and others poor; why some leaders serve the interests of their citizens while others do not; when urbanization leads to better governance and development; how different groups of people access the state; and why democracy succeeds in some countries but struggles in others. Students leave my courses being able to examine challenging political problems from multiple vantage points—they will understand the complexity of the world and have a better framework to examine these important issues. I’ve taught the following courses at USF:
POLS 100: Ideas and Institutions
POLS 110: Change and Transformation
POLS 260: Cities, Slums and Democracy
POLS 345: Global Economic Justice
POLS 348: Politics and Development in Africa
POLS 382: International Aid and Development
POLS 395: Politics Lab
